Burn, Rewrite or Reread Tag

For this week’s book tag, the lovely Hizatul tagged me to do the Burn, Rewrite or Reread Tag!

RULES:

  1. Randomly choose 3 books (Tip: Use the “Sort > Random” option on your Goodreads’ Read shelf.).
  2. For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread (a lot like Kiss, Marry, Kill).
  3. Repeat until you completed three rounds (or six). (I am doing just 3 rounds!)

So let’s get started! 😀

Round 1

Burn:

Shopaholic & Sister (Sophie Kinsella) just because I don’t remember anything about this book. Haha.

Rewrite:

Sula (Toni Morrison) because I did enjoy the book but not entirely. Despite its short length, I didn’t much impressed by it as people were claiming it should.

Reread:

Quiet (Susan Cain) because this book literally changed my life! I have reread it several times, using it for college presentations and such. I truly loved this book and I am always recommending it for my introverted friends, because it explains so well our behaviors and traits!

Round 2

Burn:

The Marriage Plot (Jeffrey Eugenides) because I thought this was too slow and I still can’t believe I had the patience to finish it. It had some great messages to take from about adult relationships and life in general but overall, it was too boring for me.

Rewrite:

Shopaholic Takes Manhattan (Sophie Kinsella), what are the odds of another Kinsella book entering the mix eh? I honestly enjoyed this one. It’s the second installment in the famous Shopaholic series and I honestly can’t remember much of it. But I do remember how irritating the character, Becky, can be so maybe she needs to take it down a notch. But not too much since that is what makes her funny and memorable.

Reread:

The Book Thief (Markus Zusak), oh what a wonderful book this was. This book started my love for historical fiction. Albeit a bit slow, I truly loved the characters, plot and writing and miss the devastating ending to this hauntingly beautiful story.

Round 3

Burn:

The First Phone Call from Heaven (Mitch Albom) not because I despise it, it was quite a good read. But only because I had to choose something for the burn category. LOL.

Rewrite:

A Street Cat Named Bob (James Brown) was an enjoyable read for me but it felt too basic with the writing. The message of humanity and kinship with animals was great, I just wished editors took their time giving it a more eloquent feel. But the success of this book clearly reflects how well received this book has been!

Reread:

The Ballroom (Anna Hope) is one of my favourite 2016 reads. It was so beautifully written, poignant and a great reflection of early 20th century mental institution conditions. It was such a unique story that I truly recommend it for everyone!
